Ms. Hemali Sanghvi

Ms. Hemali Sanghvi is a Clinical Psychologist who has completed rigorous training in the field of mental health. She is fluent in English, Kannada, Hindi and Gujarati. After completing her Masters of Science in Clinical Psychology from Christ University, she pursued Masters of Philosophy in Clinical Psychology from the renowned Manipal University.

Post her MSc; she worked in Bangalore for a year to get hands on training of dealing with clients of various disorders. During the same time, she developed an interest in mindfulness and its use in psychotherapy. As a result of this she underwent training in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (mindfulness based third-wave behavioral therapy). She takes interest in dealing with clients of various backgrounds and diagnosis including depression, anxiety, substance use, personality disorders, post-traumatic disorder and childhood disorders. She is also trained in conducting group therapy sessions and has conducted mindfulness workshops for different age groups. Having undertaken research as part of her course she has researched in areas of Internet addiction, diabetes among young adults and stress among students.

She believes in using a holistic and evidence-based approach in therapy, keeping empathy and compassion as the cornerstone of her therapeutic alliance. Therapy according to her goes beyond just treating mental disorders or conditions. Therapy should aim at a better quality of life for the individual enabling them to better handle the experiences of life. Hence, therapy is not just for those with mental health conditions, therapy is for everyone, any individual who wishes to improve their quality of life. She maintains her competence by being part of peer group discussions and attending conferences and workshops in addition to seeking supervision.
