Dr. Hetashri Shah

MBBS, MD Psychiatry (KS Hegde Medical Academy)

Dr. Hetashri Shah is a Psychiatrist with overall six years of experience in clinical psychiatry, community mental health, sexual health and medicine, psychiatric research, and evidence-based treatments. She is fluent in English, Hindi, Gujarati, and Kannada.

She completed her Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) from Gujarat Adani Institute of Medical Sciences, Gujarat, in 2017, followed by her Doctor of Medicine (MD) in Psychiatry from KS Hegde Medical Academy, NITTE (Deemed to be) University, Mangalore, in 2023. She has subsequently cleared both Member of the Royal College of Psychiatrists (MRCPsych) Paper A and Paper B examinations, reflecting her commitment to maintaining internationally benchmarked standards in psychiatric practice.

Following her postgraduate training, Dr. Shah worked as a Senior Resident in the Department of Psychiatry at the National Institute of Mental Health and Neuro-Sciences (NIMHANS), Bengaluru, from 2023 to 2024. During her tenure, she gained experience in the assessment and management of a broad range of psychiatric disorders across age groups, outpatient psychiatry, emergency care, child and adolescent mental health and short-stay inpatient services. She was actively involved in teaching postgraduate trainees, clinical supervision, departmental academic activities, and the organisation of state- and national-level conferences.

Dr. Shah has significant experience in community mental health and telepsychiatry. At NIMHANS, she was involved in the implementation of a pan-India digital mental-health capacity-building programme that empowered approximately 42,000 primary healthcare workers in mental healthcare delivery. She also served as a resource person for skills-strengthening, on-site training of mental-health counsellors across three Indian states under the National Tele Mental Health Programme (Tele-MANAS).

She is currently also attached as a Sexual Health Physician with Allo Health, Koramangala, Bengaluru, where she provides comprehensive outpatient care for a range of sexual health-related disorders. She has been attached as a specialist reviewer of psychiatry with the research organisation: MMS Holdings, Bangalore, since August/2025. She has past experience in administering evidence-based repetitive Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (rTMS) treatment and previously worked as a Consultant Psychiatrist at TMS Mindspace Clinic, Bengaluru.

Dr. Shah’s areas of clinical interest and expertise include adult psychiatry, de-addiction medicine, consultation-liaison psychiatry, neuropsychiatry, psychotherapy, sexual health and medicine, and neurodevelopmental disorders, including ADHD and autism spectrum disorder. She is committed to delivering compassionate, evidence-based, and holistic care through multidisciplinary collaboration.

Dr. Shah has a strong academic and research orientation and has been involved in an Effectiveness–Implementation Hybrid pragmatic Cluster Randomised Controlled Trial examining digitally delivered mental-health training for primary care doctors in Karnataka.
